B. J. Lee is an accomplished children’s poet and author. She was inspired to write her debut children’s picture book after moving to Florida and being amazed by the sight of alligators in the wild.
Lee earned a BA in English from Central Connecticut State University and an MS in library and information science from Simmons College Graduate School of Library Science. She is a full time writer and a retired music librarian at the Boston Conservatory at Berklee. Her work as a children’s poet and author has been published in several notable magazines and anthologies. She has also written performance pieces, including a rap called “Dealin’ with a Feelin.’” Lee is a member of the Society of Children’s Book Writers and Illustrators.
In addition to her poetry, Lee is a classical pianist with fourteen years of training. She lives in Pinellas Park, Florida, with her husband, Malcolm, and her toy poodle, Bijoux.
