Note from the Publisher

After the Fourth of July weekend, Martha Long, coeditor of the fifth edition of Louisiana: The Land and Its People (9781589803039, $35.00), was traveling back to Louisiana from Picayune, Mississippi, and stopped at the Louisiana Welcome Center on I-59 to collect goodies for her classroom. When she asked if she could have one of every brochure because she was a teacher, the welcome center employee introduced her to two teachers from West Monroe, Louisiana, who were doing the same thing. During the ensuing discussion, West Monroe teachers, learning Martha was from Plaquemines Parish, asked where she taught. When Martha told them Belle Chasse Middle, they realized that she was the editor of the textbook, pulled their copies out of their bags and asked her to autograph them.
