PRAISE FOR JAMES EVERETT KIBLER
Randall K. Ivey wrote an in-depth article about the work of Pelican author James Everett Kibler in a recent issue of Southern Partisan, saying “in James Everett Kibler we find a member of a quickly diminishing breed: the
man of letters.” Mr. Ivey described Kibler’s book about the history of his farm, Our Fathers’ Fields (9781589801387), as “an instant classic” and praised his Celtic short story cycle, Child to the Waters (9781589800953), for its “melodic quality and simple narrative drive one would find in good old Irish ballads.” He reserved his greatest kudos for Kibler’s latest book, the novel Walking Toward Home (9781589802261): “Kibler’s opening descriptions of Chauncey’s home place, his farm and land, the trees, the birds, the woods, the animals, are among the most exhilarating in American literature; one actually has the sense of being on the threshold of Creation, watching the world bloom into its multifarious beauties and wonders right before one’s eyes.” Mr. Kibler’s new book, Memory’s Keep (9781589803718), will be published next spring.
