NBC News Special Correspondent Tom Brokaw recognized Harold Baumgarten in a ceremony at Florida State University. Brokaw made a surprise announcement during the March 12 event. The university established an endowment in honor of Baumgarten and another veteran, Samuel Gibbons, as part of their institute on WWII. Harold Baumgarten, the author of D-Day Survivor: An Autobiography ($25.00), made many sacrifices on Omaha Beach, June 6, 1944. As part of the 116th Infantry Regiment, he charged through a mined area in the face of heavy fire despite the loss of eight hundred men and officers
on the Dog Green sector.

The Jamlady Cookbook ($35.00), by Beverly Ellen Schoonmaker Alfeld

"I got your Jamlady cookbook as a birthday gift, and I love it. I can read bits and pieces of it, look up specific fruit recipes, or settle in for a nice long read. I always learn something. I am a novice canner (at fifty-three!). I was inspired enough to make a strawberry guava jam recipe, very simple. I entered it in the Florida Strawberry Festival in Plant City, Florida, this week and won the blue ribbon for it. I am now hooked.
Thank you for writing such a good book."
